Following a recent court decision in California, same sex marriage was legalized in the Golden State, and of course caused some controversy. Now Californians are expected to vote on a Proposition 8 this November, which would define marriage in the California Constitution as between a man and a woman. A new poll shoes that 51% of Californians oppose the measure and will vote against it, keeping same-sex marriage legal. Do you think California will ban same-sex marriage?

Russian troops and tanks entered the separatist province of South Ossetia by the hundreds on Saturday, with more soldiers expected to land in the disputed province of Abkhazia, further escalating the conflict with Georgia. The latest offensive has apparently killed or wounded scores of civilians, but with the situation changing rapidly information was difficult to verify. Georgia's President Mikhail Saakashvili has called for a ceasefire to stop the violence and said his country is in "a state of war"

And Bale, who plays Batman, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother and sister shortly before the film’s London premiere.
